Nashville Chapter

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Nashville Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Tennessee shall be to assist all blind persons in our community, state, and nation to live, work, and play as equal participants of society; to function as an integral part of the National Federation of the Blind Tennessee and the National Federation of the Blind; to reap the full benefits promised by the Declaration of Independence “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” by drafting and promoting legislation; exploring opportunities for employment and providing public education; as a team, doing whatever we can to spread our positive blindness philosophy, we will show by our example and love that blindness is not the characteristic that defines our future; and with hope, the proper training, and equal opportunity, we can transform our dreams into reality.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

Together with love, hope, and determination, we transform dreams into reality.
